It's a surprise that it took so many decades to get the idea of separating hydrogen and oxygen from water in the car's engine to make it work safely without the risk of storing hydrogen gas in tanks tanks that can explode. Not to mention, water-powered cars were already invented by many individuals in the past but many of them or their inventions just vanished without a trace (some of them even murdered and their car, work, research, papers stolen by oil companies right after their death). Car companies could have gotten the idea of water-powered cars even before they launched the unsafe, explosive, space-consuming hydrogen cars.

So if I'm driving in the middle of nowhere with no drinking water, I can just pop open the car's water tank and drink it?

Water-powered cars can give 100+ miles or even 150 miles per gallon of water.
